History of YOG
The olympics are rumoured to have started in 776 BC, during the Ancient Greek but the truth still remains unknown. There are alot of myths but one of the most popular is the myth about Heracles(the Roman Hercules) and his father, Zeus as the founders of the games.
As stated to the legend, Heracles was the one who called the Games "Olympic" and set-up the practice of taking place the Games every four years. A legend stated that after Heracles finished his twelve abours(series of archaic episodes connected by a later continuous narrative, concerning a *penance), he built the Olympic stadium for Zeu as an honour.
The Ancient Games are running events, boxing, wrestling, equestrian and a pentathon which consist of jumping event, discus/Javelin throws, foot race and wrestling. A folklore has it that a cook from the city of Elis, Corobus, was the first Olympic champion.
The Youth Olympic Games is created to let the youth show their potential skil to people around the world. To let the world know that youth too have abilities that could match up to the international standards.
