A Wednesday afternoon in East Spring

Wednesday is the busiest day for the students in East Spring. With the teachers' Day coming up, the performing arts students are busy practising. Natasha Zamam, a choir student, said,"Since we are going to perform for Teachers' Day celebration, we are very busy with our practice. We even had increase our practices days of 2 to 3! Its tiring but Im sure I am able to make it as I have my choir members with me."
Other than that the asthetics group, the NCCs are also busy with an inter-competion and are practicing hard together. Terence Lim of 3E4 said" We are now rehearsing our routin for the competition. We need to co-operate with each other in order to for us to win the competition. A person is like chopstick. If there is one chopstick, it is easy to break but if there are alot of chopstick, it would not be easy to break. Teamwork is important for us to progress as a group." Other than the inter-competition, they also have orienting coming up!
The basketballers are also improving their skill by training together. Aizat from 1E2 said," It's tiring for us to continue training non stop. Its even hard now since its during the fasting month! But since we have each other to lean on, the burden on ourself is lesser."
Wednesday is indeed very busy day for us students!

TO the basics of the Olympic!

History of YOG
The olympics are rumoured to have started in 776 BC, during the Ancient Greek but the truth still remains unknown. There are alot of myths but one of the most popular is the myth about Heracles(the Roman Hercules) and his father, Zeus as the founders of the games.

As stated to the legend, Heracles was the one who called the Games "Olympic" and set-up the practice of taking place the Games every four years. A legend stated that after Heracles finished his twelve abours(series of archaic episodes connected by a later continuous narrative, concerning a *penance), he built the Olympic stadium for Zeu as an honour.

The Ancient Games are running events, boxing, wrestling, equestrian and a pentathon which consist of jumping event, discus/Javelin throws, foot race and wrestling. A folklore has it that a cook from the city of Elis, Corobus, was the first Olympic champion.

The Youth Olympic Games is created to let the youth show their potential skil to people around the world. To let the world know that youth too have abilities that could match up to the international standards.

Climate Change

This photograph depicts black smokes are casing over the factory. The black smokes have been given out by the factory itself. This photograph let me think of the future of Earth. What would happen if humans continue their activities that endanger not only the nature but the whole world? Every human knows the consequences of a climate change – a dying earth. Climate change is occurring across the world. Human's negative actions are leading a world that is dying. As human, many will think that only humans are affected but do they know that it's not just them who are in danger? All the animals are losing their habitat, their home. Human used to be known as the most caring "animal" but through this photograph, it seems like it’s a doubt. Climate is changing and we still have time to change our ways of living.

Racial Harmony DAy!!

On the 21 July 2010, East Spring Seconday School celebrated Racial Harmony Day by openig a bazzar. The sec 4s and 1s sold many traditional food. I had the chance to go witness the event and had asked some people for thier opinion about it.

Siti Hajar of class 2N2 said "I feel that the Sec 4 and 1 were very enthusiastic about celebrating Racial Harmony Day as they were really trying hard to sell their food.I think the school should let the student wear flip flops, jeans, bermudas and other casual clothes. I hope that the school would organise this event again next year."
